Hugo began working with wood at a young age. He created simple pieces from chunks of wood he grabbed off of the wood pile. Throughout his career, Hugo had the opportunity to train and create with some of the best master carpenters in the country. Now semi-retired, he enjoys collaborating with the young, up and coming artists and woodworkers. Hugo still regards his 30-year-old rolling cutting board (pictured) as his single greatest project. He said “The people in that wood shop… their work ethic… their commitment to excellence… their knowledge and humor… they helped me to make a functional piece of art that is as beautiful today as it was when I finished sanding it. But more importantly, those people planted the seed of creation that has helped me turn the imagined into reality.”
Alex brings fresh creativity and a growing mastery of the craft to Hugo Reasons Design. As our Artist and Carpenter Apprentice, he blends curiosity, dedication, and an eye for detail into every project he touches. Whether he’s shaping wood, experimenting with resin, or refining new techniques, Alex approaches each piece with passion and a commitment to learning. His hands-on energy and artistic perspective help bring our designs to life, and he continues to grow into a skilled maker whose work speaks for itself.
Scott’s main focus has been learning how to operate our brand new large format CNC machine. He likes to bring humor in to every project that he works on, as you can see in the custom countertop he created (pictured). Get with Scott with any of your custom carving ideas.
